Professor Macdonald (Mac) Christie

Professor Mac Christie brings a distinguished career in academic leadership and research to Insights Catalyst Advisory. With a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Sydney, Mac has served in key academic roles, including Professor of Pharmacology since 2001, Associate Dean and Deputy Dean, Research in the former Faculty of Medicine (2012-2018), and Associate Dean, Research in the Faculty of Medicine and Health (2018-2023). He has been continuously awarded major research funding and fellowships from prestigious bodies such as the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) since 1991.

A leading figure in pharmacology, particularly in the study of drugs and the brain, Mac has published over 230 peer-reviewed research articles in some of the world’s most prestigious scientific journals. His research on opioid drugs and their effects on the brain has earned him recognition as one of the world’s most highly cited scientists.

In addition to his academic and research credentials, Mac has served on editorial boards for major international journals and Boards of Directors for several research institutes.
